This week our young learner became budding young journalists interviewing players from Rushden and Diamonds to find out what it is like to be a professional footballer and how this fits in with their life outside of football.
We saw mixed emotions from the students this week as they displayed a combination of excitement and nervousness at interviewing Matt Pattison, Jack Higgins, Max Porter and Kurt Robinson from Rushden and Diamonds first team, as well as prospective future stars in Nabil Sharrif, Lewis Halford, Matty Evans, George Cox, Callum Earls and Connor Hayes from the Rushden and Diamonds Academy.
All the students showed great maturity when asking the players questions about themselves and the opportunity of talking to the footballers had clearly motivated the students to complete their follow up work of producing a write up of the interviews. The interview activity and the follow up work proved to be an extremely worthwhile exercise in the improvement of their speaking, listening and writing skills in a very enjoyable way.

I’m really upset that Rushden and Diamonds is over now for us. It has been a great experience for us, at the same time your learning as well as having fun. You don’t actually realize you are learning. But its so much fun I would love to do it again. I hope everyone else had a great experience like how I did!!! Thank you sooo much for letting me take part in those fun activities. Thanks Sara and Rob!!!!!!!!!!
One again Thank you
